Absentee Bidders:
AuctionsBy™ Live:

Welcome to AmbroseBauer Trains' exclusive Live Auction Website, AuctionsBy™. These special pages will allow you to bid on an Auction Lot at any time until it is sold on the Auction Floor. AuctionsBy™ is a seamless Bidding System that does not care whether you are leaving an Absentee Bid, a Snipe Bid, a Left Bid or a Live Bid. You may place a Bid at any Venue or at any Time using the same four digit Bidder Number that you received from AmbroseBauer Trains once you registered and executed the Bidding Agreement.

HOW TO BID:

Absentee Bidding:

Even through there is no difference between Absentee and Live Bidding, there are different pages you can use to place a bid. We believe the principal page one would use to place an Absentee Bid before the date of the Private Auction is the Lot Detailed Page. You can get to this Page by clicking the date of the Private Auction in which you are interested (always located at the top of the menus that are on the left side of most pages of the AmbroseBauer Trains' WebSite). This will take you to our AuctionList Page. If you scroll down the Auction List Page you will see a List of all Lots. Double clicking on any of the Lot Numbers will take you to the Lot Detailed Page for that particular Lot. This page allows you to place an Absentee Bid by placing your Bidder Number, Password and Bid Amount in the designated boxes and then pressing the MAKE YOUR BID Button.

Please note that we have many error checks on any Proposed Bid to make sure your Bidder Account is currently active, that your Password is correct for your Bidder Number, that your Proposed Bid is of a proper Bidder Increment (if it is not, we will automatically correct it to a proper increment and ask you if you want to make this Proper Bid), that the Proposed Bid is greater than any prior Bids that you may have placed on this Lot, and that the Proposed Bid is currently greater than the Current High Price. This Lot Detailed Page will also be available on the day of the Auction for you to place any Bids, and as such, it will show the FAIR WARNING and SOLD Banners that are linked to the AuctionsBy™ Live Page. However, this Lot Detailed Page does not automatically refresh and you need to manually refresh this Page by using your Browser's Refresh Button to see Current Bids and the Current Status of this Lot.

If your Absentee Bid makes you the High Bidder, you will see a small pop up box telling you this, and when you click out of this box, the Lot Detailed Page will refresh and show the new Current High Bid and your Bidder Number. If your Absentee Bid does not make you the High Bidder, you will see a small pop up box telling you this, and when you click out of this box, the Lot Detailed Page will refresh and show the new Current High Bid and Current High Bidder Number. Please note that if you are subsequently out-bid on a Lot and are no longer the Current High Bidder, you will not at this time receive an e-mail noting this status. An Absentee Bidder may not remove or cancel an Absentee Bid once it is placed.

Snipe Bidding:

For our Bidders who like to bid on E-Bay Auctions at the last possible second, we have created our own Snipe Bidding for our AuctionsBy™ Live Auctions. On the bottom of each Lot Detailed Page is a Snipe Bidder Box, almost identical to the Absentee Box on the top of the Page. By placing your Bidder Number, Password and Snipe Bid into the Designated Boxes, and then pressing the SNIPE ME Button, your Snipe Bid will be entered into a separate database that will only be accessed at the time that particular Lot is being sold on the Auction Floor. Your Snipe Bid, even if you are the true High Bidder, will not show up on the Absentee Bid Box and will not change what is perceived to be the Current High Bid. We do continue the many error checks on any proposed Snipe Bid to make sure your Bidder Account is currently active, that your Password is correct for your Bidder Number, and that your Proposed Bid is of a proper Bidder Increment (if it is not, we will automatically correct it to a proper increment and ask you if you want to make this proper bid). If your Snipe Bid is the highest Snipe Bid for that particular Lot, you will see a small pop up box telling you this, and when you click out of this box, you will return to the Lot Detailed Page. If your Snipe Bid is not highest Snipe Bid for that particular Lot, you will see a small pop up box telling you this, and when you click out of this box, you will return to the Lot Detailed Page. In either case, the Lot Detailed Page would not be changed as to the Current Absentee Bid High Amount since the two highest Snipe Bids will not be entered until the Lot is actually being auctioned on the Floor. Please note that if you are subsequently out-bid on a particular Lot and are no longer the highest Snipe Bid, you will not at this time receive an e-mail noting this status. You may not place a Snipe Bid on any other Page other than the Lot Detailed Page, and if you mistakely enter your Snipe Bid into the regular Absentee Bid Box, there is nothing that can be done and your Snipe Bid will be considered to be a regular Absentee Bid. A Snipe Bidder may not remove or cancel a Snipe Bid once it is placed.

Left Bidding:

Individuals who attend the Preview of our Private Auctions may leave Left Bids. These Left Bids are then entered into the AuctionsBy™ System. If you manually leave the Left Bids for us to enter, you will not be informed if your Left Bid is the Current High Bid. If you leave us a Left Bid that is not of the proper bid increment, you authorize us to leave your LeftBid at the next highest bidding increment that is proper. Of course, you are welcome to use your own Computer to bid your Absentee Bids once you have attended our Preview.

Live Bidding:

On the day of the Private Auction, fill in your Bidder Number and Password in the indicated places noted on the TAKE ME LIVE Page. Once you fill in a proper Absentee Bidder and Password, and press the TAKE ME LIVE Button, the Special AuctionsBy™ WebPage will appear on your Computer. This Live Page will show Lot 1 of our Private Auction, or if the Private Auction has already started, the current available Lot. Once you are signed into this Live Page, you do not need to do anything else to follow the Private Auction. If you want to make a bid, just press the Bid Button for the next available increment. If you become the High Bidder, your Bidder Number will show up in the box for that of the High Bidder. If your Bidder Number does not show up as the High Bidder, you need to bid again. As long as you stay on this Live Page, you will not need to sign in your Bidder Number and Password for each bid. If the Current High Bidder is from the floor of the Private Auction, "Floor" will show up as the High Bidder in the indicated space. All bids made, except those from the Floor, will be identified by a Bidder Number while the Auction is continuing. The High Bidder from the Floor, if he becomes the winning bid, will be identified by his Bidder Number when the Lot is marked Sold.

The Bidder Number of which you are currently signed-in is shown on the Live Page as well as your Highest Absentee and Snipe Bids, if any. You will not be able to place the next bid on the Live Page if you are already the current High Bidder.

The Live Page is refreshed automatically every two seconds. If you want a quicker refresh, just press the manual Refresh Button located on the Live Page.

If you want to make a bid greater than that of the next increment, you need to exit the Live Page by clicking on the Button on the bottom of the Live Page: SEE DETAILED PAGE & PICTURES OF LOT. This will take you to the regular Lot Detailed Page of our Catalog for that particular Lot. You will be allowed on this page to make whatever proper bid you wish (although it of course has to be greater than the Current High Bid and within our proper Bidding Increments). You can continue to bid from this Regular Lot Detailed Page and watch the Live Auctions. However, you need to manually refresh this Page by using your Browser's Refresh Page to see new bids. Also, this Page will not change when that particular Lot has been sold. You would have to resign into the TAKE ME LIVE Page to be automatically directed to the next available lot. (Hint: open two windows for your Browser. Use one to stay on the Live Page; use the other to show a Lot Detailed Page. You can change the Lot that is shown in the Lot Detailed Page by typing in a different Lot Number in the Box showing the Absentee Bidder Information and pressing the CURRENT BIDDING INFORMATION Button).

FAIR WARNING will show up on both the AuctionsBy™ Live Page and the Lot Detailed Page for the particular lot that is currently being auctioned. FAIR WARNING will be called by the Auctioneer upon any pause of the bidding and you should expect that the lot could be closed and sold within five seconds of this Warning if no further bids are made.

SOLD will show up on both the AuctionsBy™ Live Page and the Lot Deailed Page for the particular lot that is currently being auctioned when the lot is closed and sold. At that time no further bids are accepted by the database for this particular lot. The Winning Amount and the Winning Bidder Number will be posted on both Pages, and then the Live Page will automatically be forwarded to the next available lot for auction. Please note that sometimes a lot might have to be resold because of an issue from the floor. In that case, the AuctionsBy™ Live Page will automatically be directed to the resold lot and Bidding will resume from the highest prior Absentee Bid entered into the database for that particular lot. Our advice is for you to place your basic bids on the Lots that you are interested anytime before the day of the Private Auction. Then watch the Private Auction live on AuctionsBy™. If you want to make an additional bid on the day of the Auction, AuctionsBy™ is your chance. By placing some bids before the day of the Auction, you better assure yourself that your Bids would be accepted by the AuctionsBy™ . You could also use our excluive Snipe Bidding.
